Dr Matt lives in Union Hall with his wife and their children, next to her family homestead; where they enjoy kayaking, swimming and walks with their dog Luna.
He qualified in Germany as a doctor and completed his GP training in Scotland. He tries to complete a postgraduate certificate or diploma in different specialities every year or two to stay abreast of new developments. He feels particularly comfortable in dealing with skin complaints including operating on lumps and bumps.
Dr. Doireann is from Bandon originally, and lives in Clonakilty with her husband and 4 children. She graduated from TCD in 2002, and completed her vocational GP Training scheme in 2007 in Galway. She has extensive experience in Paediatrics (Childrens Health) after many years working in Paediatric hospital medicine, and continues to work in the Paediatric Emergency Dept in Cork. With her training and personal experience she is an invaluable resource for new parents and also has Lactation training for any new mums struggling with breastfeeding. She has a diploma in Womens Health and stays up to date in the area of Menopause, Contraception, Sexual Health etc. She is regularly updating different areas of General Practice, most recently in 2017 with a certificate in Cardiovascular Health, organized by UCC.
Nurse Katherine qualified as an RGN in the UK in 1996. Worked in the UK and Australia before returning to her native Cork. She completed her higher diploma in 'Emergency Nursing' in 2002 followed by a 'BSc in Nursing' in 2003. She has over 10 years experience in A&E and Practice Nursing. Completing courses including cervical screening, Diabetes module, spirometry/asthma management, trauma nursing care, paediatric emergency assessment/stabilisation, and ACLS.
Nurse Emma Sullivan graduated from Tallaght Hospital in 1998. She travelled around the world, working in acute hospitals in Australia, nursing in northern India post-earthquake in 2001, before completing her Higher Diploma in Practice Nursing in the RCSI in 2005/06. She has completed additional courses in counselling, wound care, sexual health, spirometry/asthma management, family planning, smoking cessation, motivational interviewing, cervical screening, travel medicine and in 2018 she completed the Diabetes in General Practice though UCC. General competencies include phlebotomy, dressings, vacccinations and ear irrigation.
